Do The HARD Work

hard work

It’s literally the answer to all the problems in the world. Do the work. Do the hard work.

So many people would rather hide behind their iPhone keyboards and chirp on how bad the world is. Saying our side is better than yours. And you are an idiot if you think different than I do. They bark about all the issues in the world. But they don’t do a single thing about it except share a story on instagram.

If you see a problem – go fix it. Like legitimately get off your ass and go DO THE THING that makes the change. Go do that work. Go do that hard work.

Go to make those hard decisions. Go get down in the mud instead of your head in the clouds. Get your hands dirty. Go make a stand. Go defend those that you love. Put the energy in to actually go make a change.

So many people WANT a change. They want to change so bad. But when they are faced with the reality to actually go do something, they don’t. Because it is hard. Because it is uncomfortable. And their little safe space is way more comfortable than actually going out and maybe have people not agree with them. It’s SOO much easier to post on facebook your opinion. You can just delete whatever comment you don’t like. You don’t actually have to make a strong stance and defend what you believe in. You can just sit in your comfy chair, in your safe place, and become a social (media) warrior and pray that someone else takes a stance. Let someone else hit the front lines. And when they succeed – or become a martyr – I will post about them too on a job well done. I will say that could have been me because I believe in it too, but I am too scared to actually put in the work to make the world better so I type on the keyboard instead of making a change.

This is about YOU too – not just the world. We all have things we want to change. We all have things we want to do and places we want to go. Yet we don’t have the tough conversations with ourselves about getting out of the comfort zone and actually make the change.

It takes work. Hard work. The hardest work than you will ever realized. The kind of work where you are in the middle of your change, you have a panic attack for no reason because you are in an unknown space and everything you have known is changing. You second guess yourself. You wonder if you should really be here. Should you really be doing this? It isn’t comfortable.

Everything in you will tell you to retreat. Go back. Go back to hiding behind that keyboard. Go back to just talking and wishing about making a change. Go back to way things used to be. That is better.

But then you know it takes the hard work. Not just the work. The work takes you to the point of the panic attack. The hard work takes you through. The suffering leads to freedom. And the harder we can suffer – the better our lives will be.

THE HARDER WE CAN SUFFER THE BETTER OUR LIVES WILL BE.

I know there are people that will call that ‘toxic positivity’ (yes – that is actually a thing). But I stand behind that thought 100% and always will. Because I have seen. Both first hand in myself – but in so many other people. I have never seen anyone change without the hard work. Without the suffering. Without questioning everything they have ever done and are currently doing.

I get how the world is more comfortable where you are at. Let’s face it – it is just easier and simpler. And that is fine. For real – if you like where you are at, I am proud of you. There are not too many people that can honestly take a step back and look at their life and say that they are happy where their life and the world they live in is at.

If that is you – if you truly are happy where you are at, you should never again post anything on social media. Because you are good, right? Why post? Why share that political post? Why share that picture? Why make that comment? Why give other people that attention? If you are good – that shouldn’t matter. You should be comfortable enough in your life to let nothing phase you – right? No presidency, riots, bosses, movements, life changes, nothing phases you.

But let’s be honest here – that really isn’t you. You really are that comfortable with the world. You can’t get off social media because you see the injustice that is going on in life. And you want to do something about – but you can’t – so social media it is.

Here is what you do: YOU PUT IN THE WORK. THE HARD WORK. The work that changes your life. That work that takes you to places you never thought you could go.

That literally is the answer. It is the hardest simpliest answer you will ever hear.

DO the work.

Do the hard work.

Watch your life change.
