Choose Simplicity

Unless you are an athlete, or already have very specific habits created, choosing simplicity is the way to get healthy.

Simple diet. Simple exercise. Simple mindfulness. Simple results.

That is it. That gets you going. That sets the habit. That gets you to where you need to go.

You don’t need keto. You don’t need superfoods. You don’t need 90 minutes in the gym. You don’t need to complete a couch to 5k. You don’t need to spend a week in India learning how to meditate. You don’t have to hit a gong and chant.

Choose simplicity.

Eat real food, mostly plants, and not too much. Be active, 30 – 45 minutes, every day. Spend 10 minutes, focusing on big deep breathes once a day.

Do these things – and you will be healthy.

And yes – it is that simple.

Where we get clustered is in the process of information overload. We have so much information coming at us, it is easier to do nothing than to do something. The trick here is to do something – and do something simple.

And I know for the majority of all you reading this – this simple method is more than you are doing now.

Be honest with yourself. Truly look at the foods and drinks you are ingesting. Look at the amount of activity you are getting. Look at how seriously you are taking your mindfulness. Are you doing the basics? Are you keeping it simple? Or are you making excuses?

There are very few people that fall out of this norm. The more people I talk to that are overweight and out of shape are that way for one of these simple reasons. They eat too much. They don’t get any exercise. They are wound up balls of stress. Pure and simple.

Yes – you can eat simple. It isn’t as expensive as you think when you plan ahead. It is easy to prepare – less work than you think. Even if you are on the go, you can choose healthy options – but I would questions are you really on the go – or are you doing what is easy?

Yes – basic activity is all it takes. Just 30 – 45 minutes. Every day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Get your heart pumping and break a sweat. Walk, play golf, do jumping jacks, do air squats, play tag, whatever it is – do it. Everyday. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Yes – you have 30-45 minutes. If you truly don’t – make time. It’s your health – the most important thing that you will ever have.

Yes – you can breathe for mindfulness. It’s easier than you think. Yes – thoughts will creep in, you won’t be perfect the first time, or the second time, or the third time, etc. That is what we “practice” mindfulness. Be with yourself – relaxed – focusing on your breathing – not thinking – for 10 minutes a day. Every day. You have the time. Wake up 10 minutes earlier. Go to bed 10 minutes laters. Clearing your mind lowers stress, helps you think clearer, and makes you more aware in your present moment.

And that is it.

Sure – you can do so much more to take your health to the next level. But keep it simple to start. Choose simplicity. I can nearly guarantee that for most of you reading this – this is a great starting point. Do these things – every day – for 30 days, and see how your life changes. Then do it for 90. EVERY DAY for 90 days. Then let’s have a chat about what you need next.

But to start, choose simplicity. You can’t go wrong.
